Mahealani Uchiyama in Concert

Afro-Polynesian choreographer and singer, composer, Mahealani Uchiyama, gave an excellent performance Sunday night at Ashkenaz Music and Dance Center in Berkeley. I really enjoyed it. I found out later that this weekend was Diamano Coura's yearly concert. I am so sorry I missed it.

Accompanying Uchiyama were so many marvelous musicians, drummers, ukulele players, bassist, and two guitarist. Uchiyama played several drums, a mbira, and a ukulele.
It was the woman guitarist whom I really loved. I'll get back to you with her name. Oh, their were also lovely dancers, all students of Uchiyama's International Dance School in Berkeley.
