Wanda's Picks Radio July 3, 2009

I got an email from Black Commentator about Cynthia McKinney who is currently in a Israeli prison. She and others were on The Spirit of Humanity ship, a peace mission delivering food and medical supplies to Gaza, when intercepted by the Israeli government.

For communications and updates from Cynthia McKinney, visit her Green Party page(http://www.gp.org/cynthia/index.php) and blog (http://dignity.ning.com).

Today Richard Brown and Ray Boudreaux were on my show, along with Herman Bell's attorney, Stuart Hanlon, who all shed much light on the events of Monday, June 29, which found many SF8 supporters sitting in court witnessing co-defendant Herman Bell take the plea bargain offered by the prosecution. I rashly called it "jumping ship" when in fact, it was nothing of the sort.

Clarity is a good thing, although I'd still like at some point to hear from Mr. Bell directly. I don't mind waiting.

This interview was followed by one with Raymond Nat Turner, whose jazz poetry ensemble, UpSurge! performs this evening at the Oakland Public Conservatory's Alternative to the Fourth of July program, beginning at 6 p.m. with a meal, 8 p.m. show. The OPC is at 1616 Franklin Street, in downtown Oakland. I found it interesting to learn that Bunchy Carter, mentioned in the film, Legacy of Torture: The War Against the Black Liberation Movement, by SF8 defendant and former Black Panther Party member, Harold Taylor, was a poet and an inspiration for Raymond as a youth in Los Angeles.

For some reason, I have had trouble accessing my website site since early this morning (6 AM), so presently I cannot edit the show page. Listeners will also notice the standard blog talk radio introduction, rather than my personalized one.
